Powerful features, flexible function, affordable price

Communicate with Clarity

The OIT3160B & OIT4160B MicroOITs store up to 500 user-definable screens. Each screen can display as little or as much information as you choose. There is no wasted space – you have control over the entire screen. The following screen types are available to help you clearly communicate to the OIT operator.

Message Screens

With the ability to embed up to 25 controller register monitors anywhere in each screen, message screens can convey information to the OIT operator in an easy to read format while allowing the OIT operator to change data in the controller. In addition, message screens can be chained together to form messages longer than the display size.

Recipe Screens

Recipe screens allow the OIT operator to setup and start a batch process. Each recipe screen can include up to 20 preset and 25 operator controlled ingredients, and recipes can be easily uploaded and downloaded between controller and OIT.

Alarm Screens

Alarm screens keep the OIT operator informed of alarm conditions using a message and an audible alert. The message can include real-time information from up to 25 controller registers.

Menu Screens

Menu screens allow the OIT operator to quickly and easily branch to other message, recipe or menu screens. Chaining menu screens together, allows each menu option to have a longer description.

Help Screens

Help screens are linked to related message, recipe or menu screens and display when the HELP key is pressed.

Screen Display Features

The OIT3160B & OIT4160B MicroOITs offer many screen display features to enhance communication:
Linear Scaling to present analog or digital data in readily understandable terms (i.e., degrees, speed)
Blinking Characters
Extended Character Set
Horizontal Scrolling
Timed Display
Beep on Display

Enhanced Features

Recipe Screens

Recipe screens allow the operator to download or upload preset values into PLC registers. These preset values are configured when programming the OIT, and can also be modified at any time by the OIT operator. Recipe screens allow the OIT operator to configure and start a batch process. Each recipe screen can include up to 20 preset values. Each recipe screen also includes:

  • Initiator - A signed character in the bottom right corner of the recipe screen that the OIT operator must change from 'N' to 'Y' to download the recipe to the PLC.
  • Gate coil - A PLC relay coil that the OIT uses to signal the PLC that the recipe has been downloaded and the batch process is ready to start.

On the MicroOIT Series, you can also configure any screen-dependent function key to upload or download a recipe. The PLC/controller has the ability to send an upload or download command to the OIT using the message request register.

Memory Storage for Motion Controllers

The MicroOIT Series has the ability to store data for later retrieval from a PLC or motion controller. This is particularly useful in applications in which the controller has no internal memory that is non-volatile. For example, suppose that a controller is used that requires initial operational settings whenever the controller is powered. These settings may be stored in the OIT to be downloaded into the controller after power-up. This feature saves time and ensures that the correct settings are always sent to the controller. The MicroOIT stores data internally using the recipe screen feature. With recipes, data can be uploaded from the controller and stored in the OIT's non-volatile flash memory. When needed, data can be sent back to the controller by pressing a key on the OIT or by sending a download command from the controller.

Multiple Language Support

This feature can be used to support control system applications in which multiple languages are required. For example, suppose that you are creating a control system that may be sold to companies with offices around the world. At the time of manufacture, you may not know which part of the world the system will be eventually shipped to. Without this feature, you would be forced to create multiple projects for the OIT, each in a different language. Then you would have to wait until the destination was known before configuring the OIT.

The multi-language feature allows you to "split" the 500 screens available in the OIT into 2, 5 or 10 separate groups or languages. Once configured, you create the screens that pertain to that language using the copy and paste function and then changing the language. When the control system is shipped to its final destination, the OIT operator places the OIT into the setup mode and selects which language is to be displayed.

Powerful Function Keys

The OIT3160B & OIT4160B MicroOITs have 6 screen-dependent function keys which can be configured to perform a different function in each of the OIT's stored screens. The following modes of operation are available for each function key.

Function Key Mode

Operation

Disabled

No operation.

Push On/Off

Emulates on/off switch. Sets a discrete coil in the controller when pressed; clears the coil when pressed again.

Latched

Sets a discrete coil in the controller when pressed. The controller must clear the coil.

Momentary

Emulates momentary switch. Sets a discrete coil in the controller when pressed; clears the coil when released.

Screen Display

When pressed, displays assigned stored screen unless password protection is enabled or an alarm screen is currently displayed. If password protection is enabled, the OIT operator is prompted for a password and the screen is only displayed if the password is entered correctly.

Rugged & Reliable

Tough enough to function almost anywhere, the OIT3160B & OIT4160B MicroOITs are sealed to NEMA 4/4X (indoor) /12 standards and meet CE specifications for electric noise immunity in industrial environments. In addition, these MicroOITs are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D or non-hazardous locations. Reliability is not sacrificed to keep these products affordable. We use the best components available to ensure that our products operate flawlessly.
